I was so looking forward to coming back to some good old Florida sunshine. Alas, it’s been grey, gloomy, damp and cool since my return from The Netherlands. It’s almost like I’m still in Amsterdam where it was much of the same weather for the week I was there visiting my mom.
I had high hopes of being able to get mom out for daily walks but it was so damp most days that it just wouldn’t have been safe for her (she has limited mobility with her walker). Off course, I also had a wonderful cold to deal with and didn’t want that to develop into pneumonia. So as much as I’d dreamed of being able to get out and shoot a lot of film, it just wasn’t to be.
There was one watery, sort of sunny day though and I made some use of it. I bundled mom up in her coat and off we went for a walk on the dike behind her house, my camera (Nikon N50) loaded with Kodak Tri-X. Here is one of those shots.
This was taken along the dike which runs along a very busy waterway in Diemen, Holland. Lots of barge traffic can be seen here day and night as this is a busy shipping waterway.
I was really worried that the film would be harmed by the x-ray machines at the airport on the way back, but luckily just have some minor fogging.
Developed in Xtol 1:1, scanned from negative.
Hope you enjoy this small glimpse into my week overseas. I will be posting more in the days to come.
Thanks as always for viewing and have a great day.

Very nice, Joey! Good that you managed to get some photos with you home. Looking forward to see more!
Thanks Marie. It’s nice to be home just wish the weather was warmer (like Florida is supposed to be) so I could get rid of this cold:-)

When I was young, we had a lot of European animated children’s programs (translated into Afrikaans) broadcast over television – this picture brought back so many memories as children running or playing with pets along tree-lined lanes was such a recurring theme!
