Our sincere thanks and appreciation goes to our blogger friends, De Wets Wild – Dries and Marilize provide everyone a unique insight into the wonders of wild life in South Africa. Amazingly good photography coupled with very informative blogs about their love of this very special part of the world. There is no doubt that anyone and everyone will love to read about their adventures in the wild life reserves in South Africa and follow their pursuits from the comforts of home, or maybe take a trip.
Thank you De Wet family for your support, encouragement and appreciation of our work. It’s always a pleasure to have our work enjoyed as well as get helpful advice from Dries, as we are new to the blogging world. We can’t thank you enough and we will probably call on you again for more help as we need it. 😉
De Wets Wild have nominated us for the “Versatile Blogger Award”. In accepting this award, we need to adhere to a couple of courtesies.
Acknowledging and linking back to the blogger who nominated us.
Seven random pieces of information about the two of us.
1. Marks can fix anything and is extremely talented (am I ever lucky?)
2. Joey loves to read her Kindle e-reader (I have over 400 books on it but have hardly any time to read)
3. Joey also loves to cook (which reminds me I have to take something out of the freezer for tonight)
4. Marks researches everything to the utmost.
5. Marks loves NASCAR
6. We are owned by three rescue kitties
7. Joey owned and flew a Pitts S2A aerobatic bi-plane
And then the Grand Finale; nominating fifteen other bloggers that we consider worthy of this award, based on the following guidelines:
“The quality of the writing, the uniqueness of the subjects covered, the level of love displayed in the words on the virtual page. Or, of course, the quality of the photographs and the level of love displayed in the taking of them. Honor those bloggers who bring something special to your life whether every day or only now and then.”
These are in no particular order as they are all very special.
The second award from De Wets Wild is the Liebster Award. Accepting this we have to mention and link back to our nominator (see above and thanks very much again). Answer eleven quick questions about yourself and nominate eight favorite fellow bloggers for the award. So here goes:
What is your favorite song
I don’t want to miss a thing – Faith Hill
What is the last thing you ate
Beef stew with brown rice
Do you prefer an e-reader or paper copy
Tough choice – I love my Kindle but will also read paper – undecided
List your five favorite movies
The Treasure of Sierra Madre
The Maltese Falcon
What writing projects are you working on now
As photographers, the only writing project that comes up is a description of our work. I do try and make this as descriptive as I can as it’s easy to get mired in technicalities.
Are you allergic to anything
Marks is allergic to codeine and I’m allergic to penicillin and latex.
Do you have any real life stories that start with, “This one time at camp…?”
Canoeing down the Zambesi River in Zimbabwe comes to mind. We had stopped on the banks of the river for the night. Camping was rudimentary at best. Cots and mosquito nets. I was awakened by a loud whisper of ……RHINO!! Sleepily I replied….huh? And proceeded to get out of my cot not 5 feet from this huge white rhino. Luckily he was not in the mood to hang around and he wandered off into the dark African night.
How do you handle telemarketers?
We screen our calls. You have to love answering machines with screening capabilities.
When was the last time you wrote someone a letter by hand and mailed it?
Do Christmas and birthday cards count? If that’s the case, then December 2012 and January 2013. I still have relatives who are not of the digital age.
Besides writing, do you have any other artsy talents?
Photography, darkroom developing and printing. I (Joey) also love to cook and bake.
What is your favorite joke?
Computer technical support jokes. I can relate
Now it’s our turn to nominate eight blogs for the Liebster Award. Once again in no particular order.
We hope that the above nominees accept this small gesture of our appreciation for the work that they share with us.
