I could spend years photographing this tree, attempting to capture its essence. I wonder in all its years of growth, who and what has passed beneath. The stories it could tell.
We went back to our split toning with Sepia and Selenium for this one. Each image is different, so the tone needs to show this. The base of the oak tree has beautiful textures, little nooks and crannies.
Mamiya 645 Pro TL, 80 mm Mamiya 1:2.8 Sekor Lens, Ilford HP5 @ 200 developed in D76. Printed on Arista EDU Ultra VCFB in Ethol LPD.
The tones on this image were obtained by using a partial bleach and toning first in Selenium to set the dark tones and finally in sepia to tone the highlights. I’ve provided all timings and technical information on Flickr.
